At Music Academy Malta, we believe that music should be for everyone. We believe in creating equal chances for everyone in developing creativity, self-confidence, and fulfillment in life through music. We believe, music can heal people’s souls, empower them, and make connections between them stronger. We keep our mission in mind in everything that we do.

Mission statement

Our mission is to provide quality music education and positive life-changing experiences through music to people of every age, in different stages of life, and every financial situation.

With our holistic approach, we focus on the whole personality of a student promoting music as a lifestyle. We believe that the study of music can enrich people’s lives, make them happier, healthier, and more successful in life.

We believe in the importance of building strong connections between people, so we promote music as a quality time for families and friends doing music together. Teaching performance in solo, duets, and ensembles, we give our students tools for self-expression in every situation in their lives.

We believe that music is here to make both artists and the audience happy. Therefore, our highest priority is:

Our Vision

Now and in the future, we see our “Happy Stars” Music Academy Malta as a place where students have the opportunity to grow professionally and personally.

We plan to grow by offering them more instruments and activities. We also plan to open our subsidiaries in South and Centre of Malta, and Gozo.

In line with our holistic appoach, we develop our students as both musicians and personalities. We plan to enforce this combination of music and psychology and to introduce music therapy to our offer. By doing this, we will be able to help children with mental problems such as e.g. ADHS disorders to focus better, to be more successful in school, and to gain more confidence in life.

Swetlana Reder M.A.

• Piano teacher & concertmaster since 1989 (Diploma, Music Highschool of Tchernigiv, Ukraine)
• Cultural Studies (M.A., University of Munich, Germany)
• Life Coach (certified by EAIC – European Association for Integrative Coaching)

• Psychologist i.e. (University of Hagen, Germany)

Swetlana started teaching already during her studies of the piano in Ukraine. She received her Diploma in the year 1993.

Her study of music was based on the Moscow Piano School. Moscow Piano School put the emphasis on a brilliant performance, highly professional teaching, and comprehensive syllabus. For example, every student was attending an obligatory 8 hours week of tuition at school. In addition, he or she was playing 2 hours daily the instrument of his or her specialization. This school taught me discipline, endurance, and self-confidence.

But most people would like to play the instrument not aiming for the highest performance. Instead, they would rather experience emotions such as joy, happiness, or excitement. In the first line, the music is here to make people connected. People like to spend time together enjoying playing music.

Swetlana achieved an M.A. degree in cultural studies in Germany. Being in Malta, she continues her education by doing a degree in Psychology and offering music coaching for emotional and personal development in defining life events.

Swetlana offers a unique teaching approach, considering music as a lifestyle with practical use for everyone to have a better and more fulfilled life.

Our teaching approach

Our vision is music for people. We believe that the purpose of music is to give us joy on happy days, support in times of grief, inspiration, the vision for the future. By learning music, you also learn skills that will help you to reach your other goals step by step with discipline, endurance, and self-confidence.

But first of all, music is here to build connection between people.

In our piano lessons in Malta you will:

• experience the feeling of success fast
• build the repertoire of your favorite music style
• be always able to play for friends
• enjoy even the process of learning – every step to your goal
• participate in concerts according to your wish
• prepare yourself for grading exams at your speed

Who are our music lessons for?

• Early music for children 3 to 5 years old in small groups
• Children from 5 years old, seeking to achieve higher performance and preparing themselves for graded music exams, as well as for concerts
• Adults, who would like to fulfill their dream and to learn piano
• Parents with their children seeking to spend quality time together playing in an ensemble (4-handed piano, piano & another instrument, piano & singing)
• Music theory for all grades
• Music Coaching as emotional management (in grief, defining life phases, pre-natal time for better development of your baby and a closer connection between you and your baby, and other occasions).

In this group, you are welcome to share your experiences in practicing music as a lifestyle. You can post here photos of yourself and your loved ones doing music. In this way, you would encourage others to join this beautiful hobby. You can exchange music notes, ask for advice, and inform others about music events.
